Work Day 3

With lots of hot sun, we have been toiling in the playground laying rocks in cement for the plaza and sanding and sodering metal pipes for the fencing around the playground. We have had many hands helping with that and also painting the fencing. All is well. Tonight Mary Mlsna is sharing her testimony and Anne Rodgers is speaking to a woman´s group. One more work day before we head to Siguatepeque on Friday.

Orica Work Day 1

One group, for half the day, has worked in the hot sun at the park moving sand, rocks and leveling the ground for the plaza. Unfortunately, the play equipment that was to be here, having been shipped July 2009, is still at the port : (
God is good, we still have plenty to do. Some of the other group have been sanding the fence pieces while others are welding the fence sections. After lunch, we switched so we all could enjoy the out of doors and working with many children at both sites.
We had a wonderful day yesterday with the friends from Alpha y Omega. They have made us feel very welcome. We are also meeting many new friends and have had assistance from several men who work for the municipality.

In Honduras!

We arrived safely this afternoon ·92 degrees and SUNNY! We are at our translator´s home briefly as we get more supplies in Sigatepeque.We were hoping to add some pictures but we are currently having difficulty.All nine of us are here and doing well. Luis will be driving us to Orica momentarily.

That's the closest we could come to the great rates we had for our August trip that got canceled.
So we will be with our dear friends in Orica on Saturday after leaving tomorrow at 7 AM.
The upside to this is we will have the privilege of having dinner at Stuart and MaryBanks Knetchle Friday eve.

Looks like we have a final countdown and we are a go for Honduras!

After being cancelled last summer due to the political strife in Honduras , we are rescheduled and finally set to go. Please follow us on this exciting journey as we travel to our beloved Orica. This time we are bringing a couple of oldies (meaning returning team members, Anne Rodgers, Theresa Filarsky, Jim Peters and me, Curt Staats) and then some exciting new friends like Jack and Mary Mlsna and Barb Mlsna their niece, as well as Alex Butz and Emily Offerdahl.

We have a lot of work to do as we continue putting together the city playground. We hope to install a jungle gym (although we still haven't heard for sure if it made it to Orica--) and weld a fence around the perimeter of the playground to keep the animals out!
